Does your truck need a Clean Truck Check?

California's Clean Truck Check program (HD I/M) requires most diesel and alternative-fuel trucks over 14,000 lbs GVWR to pass periodic emissions testing to stay compliant, including out-of-state trucks that operate in California.

How often does my truck need a Clean Truck Check?
Almost all vehicles are on a twice-a-year schedule today. Starting October 2027, CARB moves OBD-equipped vehicles to four tests a year. Your exact deadlines are listed in your CTC-VIS account.
Which trucks do you test?
We run the OBD test: diesel engines 2013 and newer and alternative-fuel engines 2018 and newer, over 14,000 lbs GVWR, including 2024 and newer trucks on the newest OBD protocol. Have an older truck? Call or text and we'll tell you what it needs.
What does it cost?
$110 per truck. Fleet pricing drops to $105 per truck for 5–9 trucks and $100 per truck for 10 or more in one visit. Depending on your location a small gas/travel fee may apply, and it's always quoted up front. Note: CARB also charges vehicle owners a separate annual compliance fee, paid directly to CARB.
Who sends the results to CARB?
Your credentialed tester does, and that's us. We file the results with CARB the same day we test.
How early can I get tested?
CARB accepts a passing test up to 90 days before your compliance deadline, so you can get ahead of it without losing your spot.
What should I have ready?
The truck parked where we can reach it, the keys on hand, and the VIN. For a fleet, send us a list of trucks and engine years ahead of time and we'll run them back to back.
Do out-of-state trucks need it?
Yes. According to CARB, almost all non-gasoline heavy-duty vehicles over 14,000 lbs GVWR that operate in California must comply, including trucks registered outside the state.
